Every organization needs a community of supporters. Foundation for Nonprofits’ Community Corps is a mutual support community. Community Corps members are recruited from community leaders and have exclusive opportunities to access Foundation for Nonprofits support and mentorship in their role as a community leader. Additionally, Community Corps members may receive invitations to exclusive opportunities to participate in Foundation for Nonprofits projects.
Well, YOU ARE!
Anyone who is active in the community is eligible to apply to be a Foundation for Nonprofits member. But eligibility does not guarantee acceptance. We are highly selective about who is accepted as a member, just as we are highly selective when choosing clients.
When reviewing applications, the Foundation for Nonprofits team looks at the following items:
- What skills and knowledge do you have that a Foundation for Nonprofits client could benefit from?
- Do you demonstrate a passion for our community?
- What do you hope to get out of being a Foundation for Nonprofits member and are your personal goals aligned with the Foundation for Nonprofits mission?
The Foundation for Nonprofits Community Corps application is mostly made up of short answer questions. In addition to these short answer questions, we request a PDF copy of your resume. Unlike when employers request a copy of your resume, we want the long version! We ask for this level of detail because we are looking for people with skills that make them unique to the Foundation for Nonprofits talent pool. Maybe your professional skills are the ones we are looking for, but frequently, it is some other experience or combined set of experiences that give you a unique point of view that would make you an asset to the Foundation for Nonprofits community. So please, include every educational experience, every form of community involvement, every publication, every membership, every award, every professional experience, and every side hustle (to the extent practical and feasible).
Before your application is reviewed, a member of the Foundation for Nonprofits team will reach out to you via phone to clarify any questions they have about your application and to get to know you a little. Their notes and your application are then reviewed by our board of directors. If your application is approved, you will receive an letter welcoming you to Community Corps. Soon after that, a member of the Foundation for Nonprofits team will meet with you to walk you through the onboarding process.
